Can Failover Engines be part of domain?

We are currently running SolarWinds Orion 10.1.3 on a server that is part of our domain.

We want to implement failover using SolarWinds Failover Engine v6.4.1.

Our failover topology includes 2 identical server in a WAN environment on seperate subnets.  The second server is also part of our domain.  It is my understanding that the FoE software needs to be installed under a local admin account which we can do.  I have read conflicting information in SolarWinds documentation as to whether the SolarWinds Servers with FoE installed can be part of a domain or have to be part of a Windows Workgroup.  Please adivse if being part of a domain is allowed, recommended, or a bad idea.

Thanks!
